Nathaniel P. T. Read

Nate Read represents clients across a host of industries in potential and actual disputes involving their legal and business interests. Nate’s wide-ranging litigation experience covers contracts, securities, business torts, trademark and unfair competition, employment, real estate, and copyright. Individuals also turn to Nate to help them navigate internal, regulatory, and criminal investigations and enforcement matters.

Nate resolutely pursues client-driven strategies. Clients appreciate Nate’s zealous advocacy in court and arbitration forums, where his witness examinations and legal arguments have led to excellent results. Nate is also a savvy negotiator, understanding the business and legal interests of multiple parties to avoid and minimize risks and reach creative and effective settlements.

Nate has handled many class actions involving products liability, mislabeling, antitrust, and other claims for consumer products companies, telecom and other tech businesses, and major retailers. He regularly advises clients outside the U.S. (including in Brazil, France, Italy, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, and England) regarding U.S. and international disputes. The Legal 500 U.S. guide has repeatedly recommended Nate for both commercial and securities litigation, where he was described as a “skilled tactician” and “trusted advisor” who “rolls his sleeves up and gets fully involved while keeping his eye firmly on the bigger picture.” Nate has also been named a New York Super Lawyer for Business Litigation each year since 2016.

Nate graduated magna cum laude from New York University School of Law, where he was a member of the Order of the Coif and a Florence Allen Scholar. He received his B.A. in theater studies from Swarthmore College. Before founding Read & Co., Nate Read practiced in New York City at the law firms Akin Gump, Quinn Emanuel, and Cohen & Gresser—where he was a partner for 11 years.
